An awareness meeting was held on Horizon Research and Innovation Program for young researchers of ANAS

An online meeting was held to inform young researchers of the scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS about the European Commission's Research and Innovation Program "Horizon Europe".

The meeting held on “Zoom” platform was attended by Head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Biology, associate professor Esmira Alirzayeva, Head of the Scientific-organizational Department, PhD in Physics, associate professor Rustam Rustamov, A group of members of NCP Network, as well as members of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of scientific institutions of ANAS.

Head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Biology, associate professor Esmira Alirzayeva inaugurated the event speaking about the activities of NCP Network. She mentioned that the network organizes the information delivery about Horizon program to the relevant enterprises, organizations and specialists throughout the country,  and it also encourages professionals to use the Horizon Europe program more actively and to solve problems in a short time, as well as effectively.

Then the National Contact Point for Digital,Industry and Space, head of International relations and innovation department of the institute of Control  Systems of ANAS, PhD in technique made a presentation on "Perspectives on the Horizon Europe" program. He pointed out that the goal of the European Commission's 9th Framework Program "Horizon Europe" is to raise research in the European Union to the level of the world's strongest scientific research, to ensure the competitiveness of European industry in the world, as well as to create new jobs for people to live in a favorable environment.

The speaker  informed in detail about program’s goals, innovations, new call mechanisms, ways to join the program, financial opportunities and invited young researchers to take part in international projects closely.

The National Contact Point for European Research Center and  COST Action, director of Quality Assurance Department at Education Quality Assurance Agency under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Humbatov made a report on “Cost Action opportunities dor Azerbaijani scientists” .

I.Humbatov said that the main task of the COST program is to provide researchers with networking opportunities in order to increase their ability to meet the scientific, technological and social challenges of Europe. He said that this program which has been operationg for almost 45 years opens up new opportunities for Azerbaijani scientists to contact with the scientists from other countries of Europe.

I.Humbatov informed in detail about the participation rules of COST, its advantages, the existing projects, ways to apply and  recent achievements of Azerbaijani specialists.

The National Contact Point for Marie Curie-Skladowska, executive director of Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology of ANAS, PhD in history, Zaur Hasanov made a speech about this program. Speaking about the main goals of the program he mentioned that the scholarship program performs training of the participants with a high level of scientific innovation and creates exchange opportunities of knowledge. He emphasized that the Marie Curie Actions includes 5 different programs.

The speaker also informed the participants about the opportunities of this pogram, the innovations within the “Horizon Europe”, the allocated budget, financial mechanisms, individual and collective exchange grants at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels and ways to apply them.

The National Contact Point for Climate, Energy and, leading researcher of the Institute of Geography named after academician Hasan Aliyev of ANAS, PhD in Geography, Rovshan Karimov made a speech about “Horizon Europe”: the drafting rules of project proposals” and spoke about the spoke about the drafting, structure and correct approaches to the projects to be submitted to the program, as well as the criteria for evaluating projects by experts. He drew attention to the the importance of increasing the focus on the formation of ideas, proper division of responsibilities, the constant meetings with consortium members and discussions.

The National Contact Point for Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment, PhD in Biology, Farid Seyfullayev spoke about "Challenge Research" and informed the participants about the the investigation of new challenges and working programs for relevant clusters . The speaker also demonstrated in practice the conduct of research on the portal "Horizon Europe", the selection of new challenges and relevant topics, the identification of relevant partners for the establishment of consortia and the preparation of applications.

During the online meeting was exchanged of views in the direction of conveying new challenges to the scientific community, preparation of the projects of Azerbaijani scientists and was highlighted the importance of organizing such webinars on a regular basis.
